Black Obsidian Talisman #2
Black obsidian was among the first materials people shaped into blades, and it was polished into mirrors in Mesoamerica and later in Europe. It has been carried as a protective stone for as long as it has been worked. It is volcanic glass, said to absorb negativity, cut ties to what no longer belongs, and shield a space from what it does not want.
Each talisman is finished with a grounding botanical mist of clove, sandalwood, lavender, and vetiver. Clove warms and protects, sandalwood calms and centers the mind, lavender soothes and clears the air, and vetiver roots you deeply to the earth.
Measures 10'' long.
One of a kind. Arrives in a signature soft pouch.
Details of Construction:
Wild Juniper Sap: A symbol of protection and renewal. The dried sap of the wild juniper is burned into a liquid and applied to the thread that binds this piece, weaving juniper into its very structure. Long honored as a spiritual shield, juniper is believed to ward off negativity, bad dreams, and harmful spirits, and is tied to renewal, helping reset a space or a person after a season of illness or grief.
Witch's Bell: A protective charm with deep folk roots. Bells like these were traditionally hung by the door to ward off negativity and unwanted spirits, their bright ring said to drive off harmful energy while welcoming good in. A small guardian for the threshold, sounding softly each time your space is entered.
Trading Post Bead: 2 hand carved vintage beads from a trading post in St. Ignatius, Montana, on the homeland of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. It carries the history of the place it came from and the hands it passed through before this one.
Mother of Pearl Star: For as long as people have traveled, stars have been used to find the way home. The star is a symbol of guidance, hope, and direction through uncertain stretches. In mother of pearl, it is said to light that path softly.
Vintage Czechoslovakian Glass: Glassmaking in Bohemia goes back centuries. Czech glass beads traveled the trade routes into North America and were exchanged at trading posts across the West. A symbol of exchange and of connection across distance.
Care & Safety: These talismans are delicate and should be handled with care. They are not intended for use as keychains or everyday hardware, where knocking and friction can chip or damage them. Please note: these pieces contain small beads and are not suitable for young children. They pose a choking hazard and should be kept out of reach.
Each piece is made by hand, so expect small variations in color, marking, and pattern. These differences are natural to handwork, and your piece will be its own.
